Is Birkins Cycles eligible for the scheme?
Yes! All the necessary criteria including sufficient public liability insurance is in place.
How does the scheme work?
The Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme aims to encourage more people in England to embrace cycling as an alternative to private cars and public transport, particularly while social distancing measures are in place. The scheme is open to anyone who has an unused cycle in need of a repair. It is to help them get it back on the road by providing £50 towards the cost of a repair or service.
Can I use the voucher to buy parts?
Only if they are fitted to the bike as part of the work required.
Does it cover the cost of a full service?
Birkins Cycles offers two levels of service; a basic and full. The voucher will cover the full labour cost of a basic service, or can be discounted off the labour cost of a full service. If the work is less than £50 total, the voucher can be used to cover it but the difference is not refundable. Both services are price plus parts where required and more details can be found by clicking the bike at the bottom of the page.
Are the vouchers limited?
There is a maximum of one per household, these will be on a first come, first served basis. There will be a definite limit to the amount released.
How does it work when I get a code?
You will be asked to enter details about yourself and the bike and you will be then given a code. You then book your bike(s) in as normal and bring the code number and the relevant proof of ID with you. The code is then entered against the bike and redeemed by the workshop.
How do I apply?
The vouchers are being launched in stages so as to not overwhelm the industry. When available, you can get them here:
